We’re Back

November 5, 2010

So, it’s been a long time, and Seamus has done a lot of things. He eats solid foods every day, crawls, pulls himself up to standing, takes little steps while holding on to things, and thinks his mommy is pretty special. Seamus is now 7 months old, 16.6 lbs, and continues to get more awesome. He likes to read books, play in water, and crawl around outside. He even had his first Halloween! It’s been exciting since the last time we talked, and I am sure that I am missing something important, but life’s busy with a baby. Accept it.

This Just In: Seamus Eats (semi) Solid Food!

August 15, 2010

He was becoming insatiable, especially in the middle of the night. So, we thought we would try some baby cereal. Seamus was unsure what to make of the whole ordeal but is now slamming his fists against his tray (could he want more?). We’ll see if this will help a recently grumpy goose.

Sooner than you thought…

August 10, 2010

Seamus had an exciting weekend. Saturday it rained all day, spoiling his plans, but on Sunday they were actualized and the family went to the Heritage Park Zoo.

He was really happy to have Mom home on break from school last week and spent the whole time gooing.

He is starting to get the hang of sitting by himself. His record is 10 seconds without hands.

July…

August 1, 2010

Time gets away from you when you have a baby. Even now I feel like I should be attending to the moans and groans of tummy time even though Dad is right there.

This month has been interesting. Mom and Dad have been working on making a safe environment for the increasingly mobile Seamus. He can gently move from tummy to back and go in circles. There is a little bit of forward movement as he tries to scoot himself across the floor.

Seamus has been visited by Gramma, Grandpa, and Auntie Mary Rose. He is more interested in the dogs every day.

Soon, Seamus will embark on the wonders of solid foods. He is already grabbing his mom’s food and putting it into his mouth. Then again he puts everything into his mouth.

Seamus 365 Special Edition!

June 25, 2010

Hi all!  I know we didn’t make you squirm for very long this time, but we’ve just completed a few amusing Seamus-themed mini-projects that we thought we’d shickety-share with all of you.  First and foremost, as promised we broke out the black sheets and the lights for more STUDIO PICTURES!!!

Seamus looking dapper in his Gucci (or is it Gerber?) sweater vest and polo onesie.

When he's not jet-setting around the world in his private jumping chair or brushing elbows with celebrities at exclusive clubs, Seamus can be seen chewing casually on his fist.

Sure, Seamus likes the ballet and art exhibits at the met, but like anyone else, he loves a good knock-knock joke.

Fans reach up onto the stage for the rare chance to touch a rock star.

Seamus, always the cad, sends back a flirty smile to his admirers

This weekend, Seamus finished his first feature film, directing under his better-known pseudonym.

And here’s a little animation we put together:

Seamus Choogles

June 22, 2010

Sorry it took us so long to post, here are a bunch of pictures to hopefully make up for it.  Also, it’s about time for another studio session in the game room, so look forward to more artsy, brooding Seamus pictures in the near future.  The theme for this post is Chair-like toys.  Seamus has a lot of them.  Also, notice pictures of him holding himself up on his arms during tummy time.

Mommy went back to work on Tuesday, so Seamus and daddy have the days to themselves now.  Two parents, cute baby, two jobs, no daycare!  We win at life!  Alright, maybe not completely, but everyone around here is fairly pleased, except maybe Seamus when he looks around in the morning and realizes he’ll be drinking from a bottle all day.  Seamus interjects: “BOTTLES ARE STUPID!”  I’m trying to teach him that he doesn’t need to type in all caps to get his point across, but he’s a relatively amateur blogger.  He’ll learn.

This week, Seamus learned to put his hands together and to giggle, moving him a little further up the developmental pecking order.  He’s eleven weeks old today, which makes him EXACTLY a little more than 1/5 of a year old, and three hours.  What?  Look closely at the pictures and you will see that his hair is mostly back in and he’s very sneaky cool these days.  Anyway, enjoy the post, and we promise to read all comments to Seamus.

May 20-May 29, 2010- Days 62-71

May 29, 2010

Seamus had some quality father-son time this past week plus (sorry). Mom headed back to work for two half days as a trial run, and he stayed home with Dad. They had good times, I guess, but it wasn’t the same without Mommy. He did get gifts from one of Mommy’s students: a crocheted stuffed animal and mittens (pictured below). Mommy had the next week completely off (she returns full-time on June 1st), and quality time was meant to be spent together, but she got sick. While she rested, more Daddy time!

Seamus started and completed a faster, messier treatment for thrush: gentian violet. He had a purple tongue for over a week and could often be found sporting a purple goatee and purple outfits.

Seamus can, when he feels like it, lift his head 90 degrees while lying on his stomach. He’s been seen putting his hands together and is quite fond of putting them in his mouth. He is sleeping from 9:15 until at least 4:15 most nights (he goes back to bed after this, too usually sleeping until 7:00), but he had been known to sleep until 5:20! He occasionally lets out a little giggle when he does something funny. He’s hitting all of those developmental milestones! He is so smart, alert, and happy.

May 12- May 19, 2010- Days 54-61

May 19, 2010

Seamus had a pretty unexciting week. His great-grandma and mom have been working on setting up a college fund for him for which is very grateful.

He went to the doctor again; this time for his 2 month check-up. He is 23 3/4 inches long (75th percentile); 11 lbs, 9 oz  (50th percentile); and his head is 39 1/2 cm (50th percentile). The doctor says that he is a very smart boy who is trying to figure everything out. He is hitting all of his developmental milestones well.

Unfortunately, with this visit also came is first round of vaccinations. He did not find this amusing, and it broke his parents’ hearts to hear him cry. Everyone in the office took pity on him and tried to cheer him up.

Seamus has a lot to say these days. It’s all in baby talk, but Mom and Day understand him. “Ah-goo” is his favorite thing to say (and is probably a form of “goose,” which is what his mom often calls him), but there are also some “ooos” and “aaas” in there as well.

He loves taking walks in his stroller; in fact, he loves to be outside looking at the world around him.
